Minoru is the youngest son of Kudou Makoto, current head of the Kudou Clan. He is an Augmented Magician created from the genetic material of two siblings due to his father's warped idea that he had to produce an heir far stronger than him. Officially, Minoru is created using an egg from Makoto’s wife inseminated with Makoto’s sperm.

The Kudō (九島, lit. nine islands) Family is a former member of Ten Master Clans, bearing the number Nine (九) in their name. The current Head of the Kudou Family is Kudou Makoto.

Minoru meet Tatsuya with his sister, Miyuki and Minami in volume 14. They had a good relationship in that time. Minoru offered that Tatsuya along with Miyuki and Minami can stay here and later assisted Tatsuya in defeating Zhou Gongjin.
