Flight Review: The Rand KR-2 - KITPLANES
Sep 13, 2010 · However, the KR-2 does have comparatively impressive cruise performance with low fuel consumption. It achieves this by being extremely light, with a very low wetted area, …
Mark Langford's KR2S Opinions
It's my understanding that the KR2 plans were drawn up with almost no changes after the prototype flew. Well, now that there are several hundred of them flying, 20/20 hindsight allows us to study the overall design and quirks in the aerodynamic behavior and tweak it here and there.
The "New" KR2S Airfoil - KRnet
Mar 23, 2005 · The last digit of these airfoils is either a 5, a 6, or an 8. These digits stand for 15%, 16%, or 18%. So the 16% AS5046 airfoil has its max thickness as 16% of the 48" root chord, or 7.68" thick. It is a good fit with the standard "plans-built" KR2 or KR2S spars.
Mark Langford's KR2S
Oct 30, 2004 · Top speed: 191 mph TAS (true airspeed) with 3100cc Corvair engine and Sensenich 54x54 prop (turning almost 4000 rpm), 184 mph TAS with Sensenich 54x58 (turning only 3400 rpm, and burning less fuel). Fuel consumption: I get 42 mpg while flying at 160 mph TAS at 10,000' running "lean of peak", which is how I always fly after takeoff.
The flaps were cut out of the trailing edge of the inboard wing skins, then an aerodynamic fairing bonded on to fair the flaps for cruise. s the KR2-S is a Continental O-200-A. The engine conforms to the O-200-A Type Certificate with the exception of E-mags used in place of magnetos and 8.5:1 O-200-D pistons were used in pl
Meet KR2-S Owner John Bouyea - KITPLANES
Jun 29, 2022 · Continuing our celebration of 50 years of the KR, we walk around a very special KR-2S built by Roy Marsh and under the current stewardship of John Bouyea. This KR was the first acknowledged as a stretched “-S” version of the compact, fun-to-fly two seater.
The KR-2, March 1975 - Airfoil
Conversations at Oshkosh with Ken and the fellows from Wicks Organ who built the second KR-2 seemed to indicate that the -2 is a real floater in ground effect. They said that even when you had the bird as slow as you dared on final it would still get down to …
KR2 - suitable for beginners? - AvCom
May 15, 2007 · You will need a long runway for your 1st couple of landings. The plane normally stalls at about 52mph but once in ground effect it reduces to about 35 mph that is why it floats for ever. If you are on finals at 90mph forget it you will not land. The KR2 is so clean that on a steep glide slope, with power off it will even pick up speed.
