Jan 23, 2024 · The Kowa SW is a wide-angle 35 mm camera made by Kowa in 1964. It has a fixed 28 mm f/3.2 lens, with scale focusing down to 0.5 metre. There are aperture stops down to f/16, and a Seiko SLV leaf shutter, with speeds 1 - 1/500 second, plus 'B', and with a self-timer.

Kowa SW is a Japan-made camera that can not be simply described as a SLR or a rangefinder, it works without coupled range finder, a Kepler view finder gives an idea of the FOV, and you determine the distance with the scale focusing lens, 28mm F3.2, which was the fastest 28mm lens back to the 1960s.

Aug 23, 2010 · An interesting camera to my eyes. First the design is very clean, simple and attractive. Then we have that Keppler viewfinder of amazing clarity and definition. The funnel shape of the finder also adds to the looks of the camera. Last, but not least, a 28mm lens, hence the model name SW (super wide), very uncommon on a 60's compact camera.
