Kota Izumi (出 いず 水 み 洸 こう 汰 た Izumi Kōta?) is Shino Sosaki 's nephew and the son of the now-deceased Hero team, Water Hose. Eight years after the Final War, Kota is now a first year attending U.A. Izuku tells Kota a story about "a friend of his" who couldn't manifest a Quirk and how much he wanted to be a hero. Despite Izuku’s best efforts, Kota still refuted Izuku's attempts at friendship and tells him to leave once again. Later, Kota is attacked by Muscular, the villain who murdered his parents, but is saved by Izuku.

Two years prior to the current story, Kota Izumi's parents, the Pro Hero duo Water Hose sacrificed themselves to save civilians from the villain Muscular. Believing they died a truly heroic death, many supporters praised Water Hose. Kota, however, was devastated by their deaths.
