The KORD 6P67 and KORD 6P68 is a successor variant of the AEK-971 and AEK-973 respectively, that was announced on 23 December 2014, which features numerous internal and external improvements over its predecessor and was adopted by the Russian Armed Forces' Spetsnaz type special operations units.

May 20, 2021 · KORD assault rifles are gas-operated balanced-action firearms chambered in 5.45x39mm (GRAU index 6P67) or 7.62x39mm (GRAU index 6P68). These rifles are also known as A-545 and A-762 and are the modernized versions of the AEK-971 and AEK-973.

The 6P67 and 6P68 KORD may sound new to most TFB readers, however, the more attentive ones will recognize the AEK-971 (5.45mm) and AEK 973 (7.62mm) manufactured by the Degtyaryov Plant .

These new rifles are known as A-545 (GRAU index 6P67, “6П67” in Cyrillic) and A-762 (6P68, “6П68” in Cyrillic), respectively. In December 2014 Russian army officials announced that A-545 (6P67) and A-762 (6P68) assault rifles sucessfully passed Ratnik trials.

Apr 1, 2024 · The AEK rifles were adopted in small batches by the MVD Internal Troops and various Russian police agencies. Military forces also adopted small numbers of the improved AEK rifles, now designated the KORD 6P67 and KORD 6P68. The AEK is where we really saw success with the balanced action.
