Shy Guy is a playable character in A Koopa's Revenge II who joins Koopa's adventure alongside Goomba (playable). Shy-Guy appears in the story when Koopa was taking a ride on the airship.

Shyguys are antagonists working for King Koopa in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, and their outfits correspond to the theme of an episode, like some of Bowser's other troops. Shyguys commonly appear as disgruntled soldiers of Bowser in several issues of Nintendo Comics System, like Koopa Troopas.
