Cong Abbey also known as the Royal Abbey of Cong, is a historic site located at Cong, County Mayo, in Ireland's province of Connacht. The ruins of the former Augustinian abbey mostly date to the 13th century and have been described as featuring some of finest examples of medieval ecclesiastical architecture in Ireland.

In the village of Cong, County Mayo, visitors can see the ruins of a 12th-century Augustinian abbey established by Turlough O'Connor, High King of Ireland. The land had previously housed a 6th-century church associated with St Feichin.

The 12th century Abbey at Cong was built on the site of an earlier 7th century monastery founded by either Domnall, the nephew of an Irish King or St Feichin. We do know that St Feichen had been an abbot here during the early period.

About 90m west of the Abbey is a beautifully situated little stone building, known as the Monks Fishing House. Sitting on the Cong River, it has a small narrow opening in the floor to allow for fishing to take place, and the outlines of a fireplace in the west gable wall.

The Royal Abbey of Cong is one of the more extensive ruins that we visited in Ireland to which one had complete access. The ruin is pretty extensive, and, while roofless, there are a lot of walls, stairs, arches, and even some large fragments of the cloister arcade.
