Aug 16, 2021 · Koh Yao Yai literally means ‘long and large island’, and indeed it is one of the largest in Thailand, with a length of about 30 km. It is only 20 minutes from Phuket and 15 from Krabi by boat, but despite its size and easy access, it is very little known among travelers.

Ko Yao Yai is something of a secret among regular travelers to Thailand as it is one of the few truly magnificent natural places in Thailand with pristine beaches that is not yet flooded with tourists. So don't go there and let it remain the remote, not so easy to reach tropical paradise that it is.
