There were so many artefacts in the tomb of King Tut that Howard Carter spent 10 years clearing and cataloguing the artefacts. These treasures tell of many secrets about the life of King Tut. But what did the Tutankhamun tomb paintings and scenes depict, what secrets do they hold?

This head is a fragment from a statue group that represented a god seated on a throne with the young king Tutankhamun in front of him. The king's figure was considerably smaller than that of the god, indicating his subordinate status in the presence of the deity.

Tutankhamun, more commonly known as King Tut, has played an outsized role in our cultural imagination ever since archaeologist Howard Carter and his patron, the fifth Earl of Carnarvon, opened his tomb in November 1922.
