Kharan Fort (Urdu: خاران قلعہ) is a fort located in Kharan District, Balochistan, Pakistan. [1] Kharan Fort was built by Azad Khan Nosherwani of Kharan in 19th century. [2][3] Azad Khan constructed eleven fortifications around the city, bolstering its defenses against potential threats from Afghanistan, the State of Kalat, and foreign traders. [1]

Kharan fort was built by Mir Azad Khan during the late18th century CE on rectangular plan. It is located in the heart of Kharan city and measures 273 feet x 173 feet with a height of 35 feet. The entrance to the fort is from east through pointed arch opening.

Sep 27, 2017 · The Kharan Fort was built in Iranian style with an area of 400 square yards with mud and baked bricks. It is said that the bricks for fort were brought 6 km away through a human chain. The fort was constructed in such way to overlook whole of the Kharan city.
