Keratin 8 - Wikipedia
Keratin, type II cytoskeletal 8 also known as cytokeratin-8 (CK-8) or keratin-8 (K8) is a keratin protein that is encoded in humans by the KRT8 gene. It is often paired with keratin 18. Antibodies to CK8 (e.g. CAM 5.2) can be used to differentiate lobular carcinoma of the breast from ductal carcinoma of the breast. [5] .

Aug 26, 2021 · Keratin 8 and keratin 18 (K8/K18) are intermediate filament proteins that form the obligate heteropolymers in hepatocytes and protect the liver against toxins. The mechanisms of protection include the regulation of signaling pathway associated with cell survival.

Keratin 8 is one of the major intermediate filament proteins present in intestinal enterocytes of patients with IBD. So, mice deficient for Keratin 8 develop colonic hyperplasia and colitis due to a primary epithelial rather than immune cell defect.

Keratin 8 Is an Inflammation-Induced and Prognosis-Related
Jul 27, 2022 · Keratin 8 (KRT8) is an important member of the keratin protein family and plays a role in regulating the cellular response to stress stimuli and mediating inflammatory reactions. However, the role of KRT8 in pancreatitis and PDAC is still poorly understood.
Oncogenic regulation and function of keratins 8 and 18
Keratin 8 (K8) and keratin 18 (K18) are the most common and characteristic members of the large intermediate filament gene family expressed in ‘simple’ or single layer epithelial tissues of the body.
