Local anglers favor fishing for crappie and blue catfish on Kaw Lake, over fishing for the many of the other species here. The lake also has flathead and channel cats, largemouth bass, striped bass, hybrid stripers, bluegill, white bass, paddlefish, sunfish, walleye and saugeye.

May 19, 2023 · The Arkansas River is easily one of the best waterways for stripers in Oklahoma. Beginning at the tailwaters of Kaw Lake, flowing through Keystone Lake, and on down to Webbers Falls, all three locations are excellent striped bass fishing. There are public access locations along the Arkansas River.

Jul 24, 1988 · Kaw Lake tailwaters: This is the northernmost stop in the stripers' Arkansas River spawning run and the fish are so vulnerable the tailwaters are closed for a time each spring. Big rods are needed to fish the current where stripers congregate during periods of heavy discharge.

The Arkansas River flows into Kaw Lake and creates a fabulous habitat for fish and produces some of Oklahoma’s largest catfish. Kaw Lake is also home to a large population of Bald Eagles who spend the winter in the area.

Kaw Lake and the Arkansas River have long been known for great hauls of catfish. Kaw Lake also has bass, crappie, walleye, stripers and even a spoonbill or two. There are seven public use areas and 13 boat ramps located around the lake for visitors to enjoy.
