New KR-2S Wing Skin Kit Now Available! Specifications Length 16' Wing Span 23' Total Wing Area 82 sq. ft. Gross Weight 980 lbs. Useful load 460 lbs. Baggage capacity 35 lbs.
The tail wheel steering is provided by differential braking and steering chains attached to the rudder cables providing positive steering at all times while on the ground. Even though the KR2-S has relatively low horsepower, it can outperform many general aviation aircraft while retaining unequaled fuel economy.
Design Analysis Home - KR-Super2
The KR2S has the smallest Horizontal Tail Volume Coefficient of all of the kit planes I looked at in its class. The horizontal tail volume coefficient also directly affects the allowable CG location.
Mark Langford's KR2S
Oct 30, 2004 · Top speed: 191 mph TAS (true airspeed) with 3100cc Corvair engine and Sensenich 54x54 prop (turning almost 4000 rpm), 184 mph TAS with Sensenich 54x58 (turning only 3400 rpm, and burning less fuel). Fuel consumption: I get 42 mpg while flying at 160 mph TAS at 10,000' running "lean of peak", which is how I always fly after takeoff.
Mark Langford's KR2S Opinions
One little area of concern in the current KR2S plans is the lack of a standard horizontal reference plane, from which wing and tail incidence can be measured. After forming the "boat" by bending the sides to shape, the upper longerons become bowed into …
Jim Hill's KR2S
Jim Hill's stretched KR2 has been stretched 14" in the tail, like a KR2S, but doesn't have the extra two inches added in front of the main spar. But it has a KR2S tail (and then some) plus the longer KR2S fuselage, so aerodynamically, it's pretty much a KR2S now.
Chris Pryce’s “KR-2S ish” - KITPLANES
Jun 29, 2022 · In addition to the stretch, Pryce’s KR has a new horizontal tail. “It’s an open-source design from the KRnet, with symmetrical airfoils and more stabilizer area.” His KR also sports a taller rudder than the design originally had and he’s using “an open-source laminar airfoil [on the main wing] for ‘free’ speed.”
Modifications to my KR-2S Aircraft
The tail is sized the same as a stock KR-2. The upper deck is the Rand Robinson prepreg KR-2S deck with a Dragonfly canopy. The wings are Diehl wing skins using the RAF 48 airfoil (the "new" AS series airfoil didn't exist when this plane was built.).
Ricky's KR2S Construction Log -- Tail wheel
Nov 9, 2004 · This page documents the construction of the tail wheel for my KR2-S. 9 November, 2004. For some strange reason, I decided that I did not want to use the spring steel called for in the plans for the tail wheel spring, so I decided that I would make my own out of carbon fiber (CF).
KR-2S - Pilotmix Light Aircraft DB & Sales
The KR-2S is the latest KR in the fleet. It includes a 16 inch stretch in the fuselage over the standard KR-2, more head and leg room and pre-molds made of the latest oven-cured, vacuum-bagged pre-pregs. Its stylish raked canopy and fixed landing gear give it a racy appearance that is only exceeded by its performance.
