Sep 22, 1993 · Cable Systems were carrying KPIX in the area anyway. By 1995, when KXTV and Belo signed a deal with ABC, CBS went to KOVR by default. KOVR continued the practice of not running Guiding Light based on KXTV's conclusions.

In 1993, KPIX shifted CBS primetime from 8pm-11pm to 7pm-10pm, thus moving their late newscast from 11pm to 10pm, and expanding it to an hour. This hour-long 10pm newscast competed head-on with KTVU's long-dominant "10 O'Clock News".
