Jan 18, 2024 · @KLR-Mule and I were discussing this. The CFMOTO 450MT looks intriguing. It's just above that 375lbs mark, and only 43hp, but that's better than gen 3 KLR numbers. And it's a parallel twin, so probably more comfortable at 70-90mph. If it sticks around for a few years to work out the kinks and QC issues, it could be an interesting KLR competitor.

Apr 16, 2021 · The klr has a 5 speed, steel square-tube swing arm , rsu forks , steel handlebars, non folding gear and brake pedals , ect. Its no where near the quality. The T7 does nice 2nd gear wheelies with a little tug and the klr need a clutch drop in first to wheelie.

Oct 15, 2017 · I just picked up a nice 2009 KLR 650 but the tires are totally shot. I'm looking at a set of Shinko 700 tires. The factory rear is a 130/80/17. Will the Shinko 5.10x17 fit? It has a Kenda 5.10x17 right now that barely clears the exhaust. They also make a 4.8x17 would that be a better fit? Some charts say that's closer to factory size.

Feb 21, 2020 · KTM’s 790 Adventure has been a tremendous success, Yamaha’s Tenere 700 is eagerly awaited, and Honda isn’t really in the mid-size segment. Kawasaki is in a good position to replace the KLR650 single with a new twin cylinder off-road focused version.

The real question (as I stare into the tread pattern) is whether I will notice a real difference on-road, since these also do look like they've got a pretty aggressive tread ...
