Nov 2, 2019 · FWIW, there are a few key strengths where the KEF R3 are notable better (IMO from subjective listening): Without a subwoofer, the bass from the KEF R3 bass extends deeper, stronger, and seems to have more dynamics available to it. In this case, there were several songs where I actually had to double-check that the subwoofer was indeed turned off.

May 29, 2023 · Not sure one would gain much other than higher SPL and more headroom, but the C399 power ratings is a good match for the R3's. So, power/safety wise the C399 is a better match than your HD-1 amp. Recommended power for R3/R3 Meta is 15-180 watts, but Kef recommends between an amp with 60-110% of the maximum rated power for the speaker.

Nov 24, 2021 · The biggest feedback so far has been to get a better sound stage from an ELAC DBR, which is why I’m looking at UBR vs R3. 7.2.4, Epson LS12000, Onkyo RZ50, Emotiva XPA3, Elac Unifi Reference UBR62/UCR52, 2x HSU VTF-15 MK2s, Silver Ticket AT 150”, ELAC IW and IC surrounds/atmos, Tuscany Valencia, Buttkicker LFE, AppleTV 4K and XBOX Series X.

Oct 15, 2020 · I love the KEF R3 for their incredible detail and separation. A very articulate speaker. The clarity was absolutely beautiful. I might be weird, but I love hearing the fingers slide on a guitar/bass string. I love that level of detail. The sound stage was very up front, didn't feel as expansive as the Sonetto.
