Feb 8, 2015 · ZF41/1 is a simplified version of ZF41 and has less lenses. It has 7 elements in 4 groups. 2 in objective, 2+2 for erecting, 1 for ocular. I do not know what exact difference is made with 2 less lenses than ZF41, but I am sure that the quality of view is poorer.

Surviving wartime documents discussing the Zf. 41 are limited so this is a educated guess. Both firms were delivering rifles by late 1941, but by late 1942 BLM stopped producing K98ks altogether. Borsigwalde continued to produce K98ks (and Zf. 41s) until late 1943.

Mar 28, 2010 · Starting from 1941 the short 1.5x Zielfernrohr 41 (Zf41) telescopic sight was fitted to some Karabiner 98k rifles for sharpshooting use. The Zf-41 was in fact the first attempt to provide the ordinary infantryman with a rifle capable of being used, if not for pure sniping, then at least for sharpshooting.

May 11, 2024 · The ZF41 is stamped with an example of the broken die Test stamp, also the Test eagle on the receiver is not broken, but shows a defect. The coin microscope magnification reveals original blue typified by the upset caused by stamping numbers ETC. The safety is also numbered in a "musical" fashion identical to my other K98K ZF41.

Chambered in the excellent 7.92x57mm (aka 8mm Mauser) round it, this a very accurate rifle. When scoped-up, it was lethal for sniping.
