Apr 9, 2011 · Posted over on the Carbine forum, then I realized there are other forums!! My dad brought back from WWII a German air rifle/bb gun. Marked "MARS 15," with a serial number of J 116328. I can find some information on the interweb, but not much. I do know that it was a training rifle, roughly a copy of the G98.

Jun 5, 2011 · As of 1945, my dad had the BB gun version, this .22 and a twin, a couple of "regular" K98s, and at least 2 different sniper versions of the K98--THAT would have made quite the collection!! Over the years, the K98s were traded or given away, he turned one of the .22s into a target/sporter that was given away.

The gun I'm looking at is 1945 dated. Stock is dry, looks like it could've been refinished and left without any oil to protect the wood, or perhaps my assumption could be far off. The seller has described it to me a "last ditch" rifle... The gun doesn't even have a hole near the front cap to insert a cleaning rod, which I found odd.

Nov 7, 2010 · Greetings to All. K98 are way way out of my area of interest, but here is something that you don't see everyday: A silencer for a K98 sniper rifle. I initially I thought it was a flash suppressor but the person who own this item assure me that it was a silencer. The German had special subsonic ammo and had a range of around 150 meters.
