Sep 23, 2021 · An Arizona-based mechanical engineer is developing a flat-plane 5.0-litre V8 based on Honda’s K-series four-cylinder engine, which will use off-the-shelf heads.

Craig takes us through all the whats, whys, hows, and whens of his bespoke engine design, which is essentially two Honda K24s mated together to create a 750hp, 10,000rpm, flat-plane crank, 4.8 litre V8 in naturally aspirated form — with upwards of 1500hp possible when adding forced induction into the mix.

The Honda K-series engine is a certified legend in the automotive world. But the big complaint we always hear is that it lacks the torque of a V8. Enter Neutron Engines. Craig Williams is a mechanical engineer designing a V8 - essentially made up of two K24 engines.
