Jura (/ ˈdʒʊərə / JOOR-ə; Scottish Gaelic: Diùra) is an island in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland, adjacent to and northeast of Islay.

Located off the mainland's west coast, the long and narrow Isle of Jura is known for its soaring mountains, whisky, swirling whirlpools and wild roaming deer which far outnumber the island's residents. It was also the home of one of the greatest writers of the 20th century - George Orwell.
