Dec 20, 2023 · The JNR B20 class was Japan’s answer to Britain’s Austerity class. Built between 1944-47, they were made to be as cost-effective as possible, mainly by running on small, 860-mm wheels. However, due to their small size, they were unable to pull regular trains and were delegated to the shunter work of which they were deaigned for.
