Jul 9, 2007 · Regardless, if you own the donor car and "good" engine, the swap is probably quicker than removing the head and getting it rebuilt and reinstalling everything. I swapped an engine in the original "jetta wreck" 2001 in a long day. No prior VW/TDI experience at that time. Although I didn't have to remove the donor engine, which saved some hours.

Oct 14, 2019 · The engine in an 04 or 05 Passat is the same engine that's in the same year Jetta (BEW 04, and maybe BRM in the 05, not sure on that one). Obviously, the 1934 Ford has rear wheel drive. All the VW in-line 4-cylinders (gas or diesel) from 2004/05 (maybe 06) have the same bolt pattern on the transmission end all the way back to 1974.

Aug 14, 2010 · Had a blown engine so i picked up a low km CJAA engine from a 2013 jetta. had to use the wiring harness from my blown CBEA since the harness on the new CJAA was all cut up. Looks like the man problem i have is that the old CBEA engine used a thermostat housing with a sensor in there...which means it had a connector going to it.

Jul 11, 2014 · I've done it with my wrecked 2003 TDI into a nice 2003 1.8 Jetta chassis. Mostly just an engine swap other than some A/C and power steering lines. ECU and cluster swap and the two engine bay harnesses and fabricate a panel for powering the GP/109 relay. Exhaust and fuel pickup. I have yet to remove the gasser fuel filter under the tank.

The V6 TDI is a conventional V6 with separate cylinder banks, and is FAR too wide to fit transversely in the space allowed in an A4-chassis engine bay.
