Officer Jerry L. Spruill, 29 years old, started to work for the Houston Police Department in 1969. He was well known and a friend of many at the North Shepherd Substation, where he was stationed. At the time of the shooting, Officer Spruill was survived by his wife, Marcia, and two sons, Jeffery and Scott.
