Jun 9, 2011 · The track bar (originally, "Panhard Rod") is meant to locate the axle from side-to-side and keep it from tracking out from underneath the vehicle. If you convert to a three-link or four-link system - and the links are strong enough - the Panhard rod becomes redundant.

I don't plan on lifting my jeep more than 4"s, but I need a track bar that will be fine at stock height (so it needs to be adjustable). Would it be best to have a track bar that retains the stock rubber axle bushing, or can I go with something that has a heim joint or johnny joint?
