Oct 31, 2010 · A super 35 can handle 35 inch tires locked, as for a regular d30, i wouldnt run bigger than 31s unlocked. A d30 can handle 33s in the street, if your careful. Ive read plenty of threads that guys break axle shafts going down the road.

Mar 23, 2021 · -Clean the axle tube bearing mating surface. Grease the bearing mating surface and drive the bearing home with a 1 5/8" socket and healthy hammer.-Clean the seal mating surface. Apply a thin coat of RTV to the surface.-Drive the seal in with a 2" socket.-Apply some grease to the bearing and seal.-Clean the axle shafts, ABS tone ring.

Nov 30, 2008 · To check the rear axle, look under the rear of the Jeep and look at the differential cover. If it is round/oval shaped with a rubber differential plug it is a Dana 35 or Corporate 8.25 axle. If it has a steel drain plug that uses a 1/2" ratchet arbor to remove it it is a Dana 44.

I have been pricing out new ring and pinion/bearing kits and found I can get all the parts for around $400. Or I can get a used rear axle assembly with about 120,000 miles on it for $900.

May 17, 2011 · Non c-clip axle shafts have bearings pressed onto them & use a retainer plate out at the end of the axle tubes to keep them in the housing. C-clip style axles have their bearing pressed into the axle tubes & the axle shaft itself is the inner bearing race. C-clips are used in the differential carrier to keep the axles in the housing. Max

Jan 16, 2009 · 181 axle = Dana 30 194 axle = Dana 35c 216 axle = Dana 44. The bearing caps for the Dana 35c are indeed tightened to 80 ft-lbs. Make darned sure to reinstall the bearing caps exactly as they came off... left vs. right and that the they go on facing the same direction as they came off... the end that was on top needs to be reinstalled on the top.
