A jagir (Persian: جاگیر, romanized: Jāgir), (Hindustani: जागीर/جاگیردار, Jāgīr), (Marathi: जहागीर, Jahāgīrá) also spelled as jageer, [1] was a type of feudal land grant in the Indian subcontinent at the foundation of its Jagirdar system.
