John Collins (JC) has embarked on a vastly different kind of solo project after life in Powderfinger—swapping his bass guitar for venue owner responsibilities. Over several years, JC created and built The Triffid: an iconic live music venue, beer garden, and cafe in the heart of Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley.

Powderfinger were an Australian rock band formed in Brisbane in 1989. From 1992 until their break-up in 2010, the line-up consisted of vocalist Bernard Fanning, guitarists Darren Middleton and Ian Haug, bass guitarist John Collins and drummer Jon Coghill.

John Andrew Collins AM (born 27 April 1970 [1]) is the mainstay bass guitarist for Australian rock band Powderfinger since 1989. [2] [3] He is one of the founding members of the band, along with guitarist Ian Haug, forming at their high school, Brisbane Grammar School, as a three-piece.
