The J-7D (Chinese: 歼-7D型歼击机, AKA J-7IIIA 歼-7IIIA; unified NATO codename: Fishcan) was an upgrade of the previous J-7C (J-7III), which was based on Egyptian MiG-21MFs with domestic avionics and HUD.

The Chengdu J-7 (Chinese: 歼-7; third generation export version F-7; NATO reporting name: Fishcan[1]) is a Chinese fighter aircraft. It is a license-built version of the Soviet Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21, and thus shares many similarities with that aircraft. [2] .

J-7 drone: Retired J-7s were converted into aerial target drones. Subsequently, the same conversion was also carried out for later variants after their retirement. Dec 20, 2022 · J-7D if you want to get the F-16 MLU faster but A-5C if you're only aiming for the J-7E. Don’t buy the a-5c, spend the extra money and get the 7d. It’s future proof and you’ll be able to grind out the new gen 4 jets in the future.

Dec 15, 2022 · J-7E has MUCH better flight characteristics with its double delta wings. Being able to actually retain energy in maneuvers and being able to low speed dogfight if needed can be useful. If the J-7D has the 23mm cannon then I think most people prefer the 30mm the J-7E has since it has actual velocity on the guns despite only 60 rounds.

These versions fielded only one 30mm NR-30 cannon and two underwing hardpoints allowed for air-to-air ordnance to be fitted as normal.
