Crazy as it sounds I think I actually like these pups even more than the Suhr's. The Mascis pups are incredibly responsive, dynamic, clear, and have such an aggressive punch with high gain. My only issue - the hum.

It is actually a pre-order, the instrument would be delivered in early summer. I think it is generally agreed that it is one of the best Squier's produced in the last 20 years.

Dec 23, 2014 · As others stated, the Squier Mascis JM has a chunkier neck than typical Fenders. The adjustomatic bridge is also a 12 inch radius vs the necks 9.5 radius. Thus, the E strings are going to be a little higher off the fretboard than the G string etc.

Jun 30, 2012 · In addition to all of that, it's just a great guitar. The offset-waist body makes it really ergonomically comfortable to play sitting or standing, and is a pleasure simply to look at. The Vintage White finish on the J Mascis Jazzmaster is really well-done, as is the satin finish on the neck. In fact, the whole thing is overall very well-executed.

I got the body refinished in light relic-d Sherwood Green, Got an American bridge, and trem, and threw a maple Mexican strat neck on it, and it's been my #1 for months now. Replaced my AM Std. Strat.

Aug 19, 2016 · Yes, the term is overused, but it would appear the J Mascis Jazzmaster is the most culturally impactful new guitar in the past 20 years. It's been years since an axe has hit all the marks in terms of milestones: Makes the scene - the guitar is perfect for all types of music, but it really works for indie music in terms of sound and looks.
