Oct 6, 2024 · On 18th May 2021 the UN General Council approved a joint application by the International Commission on Glass (ICG), the Community of Glass Associations (CGA) and ICOM-Glass that 2022 be declared a United Nations International Year of Glass. The Year celebrated the essential role Glass has in Society.

The International Commission on Glass (ICG), the Community of Glass Associations (CGA) and ICOM-Glass worked long and hard to have the United Nations declare 2022 the International Year of Glass (IYoG2022). This was an exceptional achievement; it is the first time the UN has acknowledged a medium in the naming one of it’s commemorative years.
