Jul 18, 2020 · So, I've got an Ithaca model 37 16ga shotgun. Serial number 584714-4. It has ducks engraved on one side, and a bird dog on the other. It's well used but everything is still tight. I'd say about 40-50% of the bluing is worn off, with about 10% of the high touch ares being silver now. Some slight pitting on the outside of the barrel.

Dec 14, 2018 · Don Fisher If your gun is old enough for the serial number to be on the front of the receiver it will also have a matching serial number on the barrel. All model 37's had matching receiver and barrel serial numbers up until serial number 855000 when interchangeable barrels were introduced. The wood on the OP's gun is correct for a prewar Ithaca 37.

They were not designed to be shot that way, they were designed without a disconnector because the designer never thought one would be needed.
