Intacs seem to offer a minimally invasive alternative treatment for patients with post-LASIK corneal ectasia. Because long-term stability is a critical issue for any surgical intervention in ectatic corneas, it will be important to evaluate how Intacs affect corneal ectasia over a more extended follow-up period.

Methods: A 27-year-old man with postoperative LASIK ectasia with best spectacle-corrected visual acuity (BSCVA) of 20/60 and 20/80 in the right and left eyes, respectively, was operated for Intacs SK implantation for both eyes.

Intrastromal corneal ring segments (INTACS) is a non-laser procedure that involves implanting two tiny plastic arcs in the cornea. These crescents are placed in the outer edge of the cornea and opposite each other. When placed, INTACS stretch the cornea to make it flatter.
