– Each person is required to complete the Application form for entry into an Indigenous Village. – Submission of entry application to the Ministry must be accompanied by the written consent of the Village Council and any other permission necessary and a letter addressed to the Honourable Minister on purpose of the visit.
Indigenous Nations - Ministry of Amerindian Affairs
There are nine Indigenous Nations that settled across the ten administrative Regions of Guyana. The Indigenous Peoples were said to be the very first inhabitants of the land. They share a rich and diverse culture and are one of the many ethnic groups that make up the people of Guyana.
Achawib - Ministry of Amerindian Affairs
Achawib is one of the titled Amerindian villages with an area of 166.944 sq miles. The village is located in the Deep South, Rupununi – approximately 44 km east from the Brazilian border and 44 km West of Aishalton Village which is the administrative centre of Deep South Villages.
Karasabai - Ministry of Amerindian Affairs
Karasabai, located in the South Pakaraimas district of Guyana, is a developing Amerindian Village with a population of approximately 1260 residents, most of whom are of the Makushi tribe.
Kwatamang - Ministry of Amerindian Affairs
In 1990 the first school was built with local materials and teacher was recruited by parents of the Village. In 1997 a permanent school was established funded by SIMPA. Subsequently other builders were constructed.
Aishalton - Ministry of Amerindian Affairs
The Village has access to its own hospital, police station, sports ground, community centers, local electricity grid and the internet. Aishalton also has a nursery, primary and secondary schools. Aishalton is considered the hub for other Amerindian Villages in located in the Deep South Area.
