The IL Corn Marketing Board (ICMB) was established in 1982 to manage the voluntary checkoff investment that corn farmers in the state agreed to implement that year. The farmers that serve on the board are elected by their peers to serve unpaid three-year terms.

In 2023, Illinois farmers produced 2.27 Billion bushels of corn, slightly up from the previous year, with an average yield of 206 bushels per acre, a drop from the record 214 set in 2022. Illinois ranks number two in the nation for corn grown, second to Iowa.

Rodney Weinzierl was named the Executive Director of IL Corn in June of 1993. He brought past experiences in the market development area, expertise in the technical aspects of ethanol fuel, and familiarity with the corn farmer issues to this position.
