Nov 6, 2014 · Since then most ILD/PF/IPF specialists have not treated IPF patients with those drugs although prednisone is sometimes used for short term treatment of exacerbations. So until Esbriet (Pirfenidone) and Ofev (Nintedanib) there were no drug treatments for IPF and without a cause, we could only try to avoid possible risk factors and other irritants.

Sep 23, 2012 · Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis is different from the type of pulmonary fibrosis that people with scleroderma get. I don't know the distinction between ILD and PF (if there is one), but I do know that idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis *does* behave differently from the PF that scleroderma patients get and has a different prognosis.

Oct 17, 2016 · I'm going to assume that your pulmonologist is a local community-based one and not one at an ILD/PF centre where they are not only pulmonologists but also disease specialists. As Diddley said, we progress differently and in fact there are 3 different progression paths recognized for IPF: fast, slow, and stable.
