The Icom IC-761 is a fantastic HF radio for those that like to rag chew as well as those that like to contest. I can easily afford the latest and greatest IC-7300, but I can’t justify replacing my IC-761 when it continues on working like a champ and twice on Sundays!!

Spurious output may be caused by incorrect band switch voltage to the low-pass filter unit, or even faulty/burned components on the filter unit itself. The above causes should be ruled out first, however, since low-pass filter failures are uncommon in the IC-761.

The Icom IC-7700 (maybee even the IC-7600) is better for those who are willing to spend about 7 times more than for a used IC-761 in good Condition, else the 761 is better and the Icom IC-765 best of them.
