The Iceni began producing coins around 10 BC. Their coins were a distinctive adaptation of the Gallo-Belgic "face/horse" design, and in some early issues, most numerous near Norwich, the horse was replaced with a boar.

All the silver coins of the Iceni appear to belong to a single weight standard, even though the earlier coins have lost half a grain or more from wear. All unworn coins, unless they are exceptional, lie in the bracket from I8-8 to I9-3 grains, and 19-I is the most frequent single weight.
