Oct 19, 2020 · Best ice axe grip tape or other? I'm looking to add some additional grip and a bit of insulation to the shafts of two aluminum ice axe shafts. If it works well I may also wrap some of my poles below the foam grips. Has anyone tried various options and what do you prefer?

Mar 8, 2013 · In reply to dek: I've got hockey stick tape on my walking axe and thinner sports tape on my climbing axes. Works well it's cheap and easier to find if you drop one. Best part for me though is it stops ice forming on the shaft of my axes which makes daggering much safer.
