So I'm a new player playing Germany and the long-gunned Panzer IVs have so far been pretty enjoyable, oneshotting Shermans and other vehicles is a great feeling. But Soviet T-34s and KVs are so darned tough, my shots often ricochet or fail to penetrate.

The 162/1 version with the L70 gun isn't specefically mentioned as having been issued to any particular SS units although it does say that some were issued to ' . . . the tank hunter ...
