Three patients fulfilled the diagnostic criteria for both multiple sclerosis and pseudotumor cerebri. Although coincidence is possible, intracranial hypertension may be a manifestation of demyelinating disease.
We treated three women with clinically diagnosed MS per the modified Macdonald criteria who developed symptoms and signs of elevated intracranial pressure. An awareness of this association is particularly relevant due to the increased incidence of headache in MS, and the fact that symptoms and signs in both conditions frequently overlap.
