Mar 21, 2010 · Most people use IH 2150 Red nowadays. I found NAPA #53 3736A to be a match for old Harvester Blue. I used IH #935 for the wheels; very close match to what I remember from yrs ago. IH Archive paint instructions state: Blue on lift springs, axles, hubs, back of moldboards and all parts of the lifting mechanism. Black on hitch and coulter arms only.

Oct 2, 2013 · The 510 was new to the IH lineup in 1973, replacing the old 500 series plows {540, 550,560}. The 510 used the same main frame as the 710 series giving the plow more clearance between the beams but used shorter beams then the 710 series so it had less ground clearance.

Oct 18, 2005 · I am a very big fan of the "150 Years of International Harvester" by C.H. Wendel. There is a 80% coverage, I would guestimate, of everything IH made from fridges to PLOWS to trucks. All with pictures. For general knowledge, I reccammend the series.

I believe there were 3 bottom golden plows that were behind 560s were there 4 or 5 bottom plows as well. How many different types of Ih golden plows were there and were they only made in 1970 like the tractors.

Nov 7, 2010 · C. H. Wendel's "150 Years of International Harvester" has a pretty decent section on plows. Ralph Baumhickle and Kent Borghoff's "International Harvester Farm Equipment Product History 1831-1985" has a fairly decent section on plows. But both books spend just a section or chapter if you will on plows. I would love to see a book devoted to IH plows.

Oct 17, 2012 · There were different styles of moldboard within the Super Chief line. The G is a stubble bottom, H is a general purpose, and X was the "high speed general purpose" bottom. I've mostly seen #60 and #540 era plows with G and H series bottoms, the X series quickly became the bottom of choice up until the last of IH plows.

Oct 28, 2016 · The Auto reset will reset itself while still plowing, trips over the obstruction & returns to position. On the 710s, and older plows when a toggle trip plow tripped you had to back up with the plow down to force the bottom back into position. I've been around a lot of different IH plows plus Massey & JD, the 720 is by far the best plow out there.
