The IFA W 50 is a medium-duty truck built by the East German IFA conglomerate at their Ludwigsfelde plant from 1965 until 1990. A total of about 572,000 were built in Ludwigsfelde, with an unknown additional number of special-use vehicles assembled at other plants.

Az IFA W50 az egykori keletnémet Industrieverband Fahrzeugbau 1965-ben bemutatott tehergépjárműve. A „W” betű a gyártás helyére, Werdaura, az 50-es szám pedig a terhelhetőségére (kb. 50 mázsa) utal.

IFA W50 była napędzana czterocylindrowym silnikiem wysokoprężnym o pojemności 6,6 l i mocy 110 KM, którego moc w 1967 roku została zwiększona do 125 KM. Ciężarówki W50 produkowano w 60 wariantach i 240 wersjach.

At the end of the 1950s, the Ernst Grube factory in Werdau began work on the construction of the rather anachronistic IFA S4000-1 truck. In 1961, a prototype marked as W45 was built, which was already very close to the final W50 model.

Aug 7, 2021 · Der Prototyp W45 (W für das vorgesehene Herstellwerk in Werdau) wurde schon bald vergrößert, um 5 Tonnen transportieren zu können, und folgerichtig zu W-50 umbenannt. Für die Fertigung des Lastwagens entschied man sich letztendlich aber gegen die Werdauer Fabrik.

Ende 1958 begannen im VEB Kraftfahrzeugwerk „Ernst Grube“ Werdau die Arbeiten an einem Nachfolger für den S4000-1. Bereits 1961 gab es einen ersten Prototypen, 1962 dann unter dem Namen W45, der schon weitestgehend der Serienausführung entsprach.
