The ID3 has two independent cooling loops for the battery heating and cabin heating system. The main advantage here is that this configuration allows the heat pump to cool the battery while at the same time heating the cabin ( or vice versa). The heat exchanger allows for heat energy to be efficiently moved from one system to the other.

Jun 23, 2021 · The extra cost of a heat pump wouldn't have been worth it for me. Others (in Scotland?) will decide differently. The ID.3 has two heaters, one to warm the battery, the other to warm the cabin.

Sep 2, 2022 · As per Sales Manager at my dealership, first few (unknown number) of cars will come equipped with Heat Pump by default for people who already have their orders in line at no extra cost but if you want guaranteed Heat pump, you have to add it at extra cost.
