Systems Network Architecture (SNA) is a data communication architecture established by IBM to specify common conventions for communication among the wide array of IBM hardware and software data communication products and other platforms.

Systems Network Architecture [1] (SNA) is IBM's proprietary networking architecture, created in 1974. [2] It is a complete protocol stack for interconnecting computers and their resources. SNA describes formats and protocols but, in itself, is not a piece of software.

SNA defines the standards, protocols, and functions used by devices - from mainframes to terminals - to enable them to communicate with each other in SNA networks. SNA functions are divided into a hierarchical structure of separate layers, each performing a specific set of functions.
