May 30, 2007 · I didnt realise how great the hwacha is! I overran the Mongols, elephants shreedding their keshiks , but they had a lot of spear which would have been a problem but the hwacha shredded them. The interesting thing is tyour point about the open field combat. Catapults are usually a pure siege weapon, the hwacha is an all rounder.

Jul 14, 2005 · The hwacha are not obsolete, but they are best for attacking melee units. Remember that cats/hwacha are better for attacking defenders in the field but the trebs are better attacking cities. You may want to declare on Shaka but let him come into your territory (no war weariness for losses in your cultural boundaries).

Jan 17, 2013 · So it ends up once you have +30-45% on the terrain type, it's better than the crossbow even with the unit penalty AND it's way better against cities (crossbow gets penalties and hwacha will get bonuses).

Feb 11, 2003 · The fact that Hwacha cannot be captured by anyone who is not Korean is an assest feature of the UU. The mod that needs to be implemented should have all catapults upgrade to cannons and then all cannons upgrade the Hwacha and the on to Artillery.

Nov 14, 2018 · When playing Korea I have noticed that Korean UU (Hwacha) still may be built when the second upgrade (Field Artillery or so) is available. According to Pedia, it gets obsolete with Explosives while Field Artillery is available with Rifling (I play the May version of Vox Populi).
