Like-OAT-based antifreezes, HOAT-based antifreezes also have a claimed service life of 5 years or 100,000 to 150,000 miles -- which ever comes first.

Sep 8, 2012 · The decision to use Hoat was made when Daimler-Benz bought into Chrylser. It is fine for newer non-ferrous metals such as aluminum and closed (non-vented cooling systems. The main reasons for OAT & HOAT coolants was for manufactures to make the claim of "5 year maintenance free".

Jan 11, 2018 · Jeep has gone from old fashioned IAT type dyed green antifreeze, then to HOAT type dyed orange and lately to OAT type dyed purple over the years. If your currently have a HOAT type antifreeze in your Jeep Zerex makes a compatible HOAT or GO-5 type antifreeze that's dyed a light yellow color that's available at many nationwide auto parts retailers.

As for durability of components: been in the buissness long enough to be able to claim that the corrosion/blockage problems of the past (1980's technology) are few and farther between with the newer technologies.

Dec 8, 2010 · Bought my GC used and I've heard that when the HOAT type is mixed with non-HOAT type antifreeze that the two will react and coagulate and curdle. Since I bought used there is a small chance that the PO put a non-HOAT type in (assuming that it's been swapped out before). My question is for those who still have the original fluid from the dealer in.

Mar 3, 2014 · HOAT has been out for only 2-3 yrs. OK I am puzzled but I get 2 gallon of regular Mopar MS-9769G. So what's the truth? Is HOAT what I am supposed to use? Is the dealer parts drunk? Perhaps a new antifreeze was developed to resolve known issues with Chrysler products or does older stuff just use the universal and your all drinking HOAT juice ...

Apr 20, 2020 · Only way to get back to full HOAT, is to drain every ounce of coolant out of the system, and start over. If any green coolant is left in the system,(ie the block, heater core,etc) and you add the HOAT coolant, it will negate the extended life properties of the new coolant. Seems easier to just keep using the green coolant.

May 24, 2020 · I have read more about coolant than I ever wanted to know. What I have found out is the colors are meaningless because they aren’t standardized with the exception of the old fashioned green stuff. There are colors of coolant that are identical in oat and HOAT with the exception of only two or three colors that are not present in both.

Aug 20, 2009 · HOAT is the recommended coolant. It can be dyed in different colours, so don't identify it just by colour. Also Valvoline Zerex G-05 is HOAT and compatible with what was put in the Jeep from the factory (in all probability it was the same thing, just re-branded for Mopar). Dex-cool is definitely not recommended.

May 11, 2011 · Not one mention of HOAT anywhere. The part number is 68048953AA. This number does come up a few times from a 'net search. However, p/n 5066386AA, which I found when searching for "Mopar HOAT coolant", comes up many more times (including on this forum).
