The Heckler & Koch LMG11 was a part of the G11 project, the LMG component of the G11 family. The LMG11 is an extension of the G11 design into an LMG format. A list of desired characteristics were proposed and the design followed up on them; Firing must be possible in all static and dynamic firing conditions. Effective fire from ranges of 0–600 m.

Oct 26, 2020 · As with other HK designs, the Heckler & Koch HK11 light support machine gun borrows much of what makes the HK G3 assault rifle a military success. With origins of the HK delayed-blowback system dating back to the closing months of World War 2, the HK 11 was born from the allowance of German rearmament following the post-war years.

To ensure sufficient stopping/killing power for small-caliber bullets used, the rifle should had have the three-round bursts capability and high capacity magazine. The new design, called G11, was created by German company Hecler und Koch, with the Dynamit Nobel company in team.
