Heysham (/ ˈhiːʃəm / ⓘ HEE-shəm) is a coastal village in the Lancaster district of Lancashire, England, overlooking Morecambe Bay. It is a ferry port, with services to the Isle of Man and Ireland, and the site of two nuclear power stations.

Half Moon Bay stretches from the wall of Heysham Harbour up the coast to the Heritage Centre at Lower Heysham. At high tide the beach is fairly small, flanked by rocks and backed by grassy hills.

The charming seaside village of Heysham, on the edge of Morecambe Bay, is just a few miles from Lancaster. Within a relatively small area you’ll find woodland, open grassland, sandy beaches and deep rock pools.

Half Moon Bay is a sandy beach with grass-covered dunes and low cliffs. At low tide, you have a great expanse of flat sand. The beach is backed by the small town of Heysham and to the south a power station and a harbour serving passenger ferries to Douglas (Isle of Man) and Belfast (Northern Ireland). The beach is also known as Heysham sands.

Enjoy this 5.5-km out-and-back trail near Morecambe, Lancashire. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 1 h 19 min to complete. This is a popular trail for hiking, running, and walking, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. The best times to visit this trail are July through November.

Mar 30, 2018 · Dating from the 8th or 9th century the ruins are great to have a wander around and with stunning panoramic views of Morecambe Bay. The headland itself is managed by The National Trust but is free to access and an ideal spot for walks and picnics (although can get a little windy from time to time)!!

Heysham is an area of land on the Morecambe Bay side of the Heysham peninsula. Heysham Head has the only sea cliffs between Cumbria and North Wales, and the adjacent coastal strip is largely unspoilt.
