This is a Side Quest in the Orient (Act III). A taoist mage lives in the forest west of the Village of Binxan as a hermit. He has not been seen in a while and the villagers worry about his well-being. So they ask the hero to find him.

The Hermit Mage is a Side Quest which begins in the Village of Binxan by speaking with Xiao Yishan (pictured above). For this quest you will need to visit a destroyed building in the Jinghe River Valley (pictured below) in order to complete it.

Zathrian reveals to you that the hermit is infamous among the Dalish; he is a Shemlen blood mage hiding from the Chantry. He apparently constructed a tower in the Brecilian Forest which has since mysteriously disappeared.

Xiao Yishan will trigger the side quest "The Hermit Mage." He'll tell you that a "Taoist mage of great power" used to visit the village, but that he hasn't been seen for some time. You'll find the burned-out home of the mage in the Jinghe River Valley, but you'll never find the mage himself.

Also, according to Medea Fleecestealer, there is a way to avoid the Mages popping up. They are very easy to kill, but if you want to avoid it look at the fourth reply.

I'm stuck on where to complete the Hermit Mage Quest. I found the destroyed house and gathered all the loot, but the quest still says it's open. The back door to Chang'an won't open until I complete it. Help!

The Hermit Mage (also known as Magic Resistance Sorcerer/Leather Chestplate Carrier) is the weakest wizard type mob in Arcana RPG. Hermit Mages can shoot explosions.
