Since its founding in 1946, the work of HEKS/EPER has been shaped by advocacy on behalf of refugees and displaced persons. In Switzerland today, HEKS/EPER provides legal representation and advice to refugees and asylum seekers and, through various integration projects, promotes migrant participation in social life on an equal basis.

The merger with Bread for All has been a success | HEKS
HEKS/EPER has successfully completed the first year since the merger with Bread for All, both organizationally and financially. The annual financial statements as of end-2022 recorded income of 114 million francs (up 15,4 per cent) and a good operating result of 5,8 million francs.
Organization - HEKS
HEKS/EPER became a non-profit foundation in 2004, with its headquarters in Zurich. Its supreme body is the Board of Trustees, which tasks the Executive Board with operational management. The Board is supported by the Heads of the Branch Offices.

In Ethiopia Swiss Church Aid (HEKS/EPER) provides life-saving assistance to people affected by crises and it assists vulnerable communities to build their livelihoods and increase their preparedness and resilience to shocks caused by climatic hazards or conflicts.

The HEKS/EPER Country Programme in Cambodia supports projects by local p artner organizations in six provinces. The aim is to ensure food security for the rural population and strengthen their empowerment with the objective to promote sustainable rural development.
